Don’t watch Seven TV news

I usually try to post something that is a little techy, geeky, gadgetty but I have to write about this.

Just the other day there was an awful accident near my house at the Gold Coast. A speeding car had rolled over and two young children have died from it. I could hear the mother screaming for help for her poor kids plus someone saying ‘don’t run away’ (the dad – driver – ended up running away from the scene) like i said , really awful, sad, tragic.

Two days later I was outside playing with my son in the park and a Channel 7 Tv vehicle pulled up at the site of the crash and the guy (only one) got his Tv camera out and set it up to film all the flowers and wreaths that were left. I started heading back home with my son at the same time my wife went past walking our dog. when she returned she said that she saw him take extra flowers out of the channel7 vehicle , place them with the others to make it look like there were a lot of wreaths, then film it, then after take those prop flowers away.

What arseholes Channel 7 News must be. I have hated commercial news for a long time because of their poor coverage and manipulation of facts and this just proves how bad they are.

Thanks to Andy  for recent comments in previous posts.

Thats awful, but sadly not surprising. I can hardly stand watching TV at all these days, news or anything else. It really has become the “idiot box” we used to jokingly call it.

    Thanks for the reply.
Idiot Box, exactly. We joked calling it that but how true it is.

I’m off the news entirely, ever since Channel Seven found it appropriate to show footage of a very deceased person on a newsbreak during “The Mole” which a lot of kids were watching. And I’m talking you needed a bucket after seeing it, and I’m an adult. I can’t imagine how kids must have felt.

If people need news, I suggest to use one of the net sites. As yet I have not seen them using any images which made me was to retch. When they do, I’m out of there too. 😦

oh that is just sick, I hope someone from Channel 7 reads your posts and gets on them over that. That’s just wrong. Leave the darn flowers. I wondered at first reading and when ya stated they’d brought flowers out I thought, oh how sweet. Ikkk! That’s just wrong!

Andy, commercial TV news would do anything for a story. Recently CH7 was caught out with a story about an elderly lady being chained to her bed at a nursing home – the TV crew actually gave her the chain!

I was on the Gold Coast the day that accident happened too!

    GottaLoveIt – Channel Seven?!

(The station that steals all the Channel Nine talent…)

Hi Gold Coaster. I’ve been wondering where on Cotlew Street the accident happened. I drive down Ashmore Rd each week day. The channels that rely on advertising find themselves doing anything to make real life events into fantastic stories that entertain the viewers – enough to keep the ratings up. Sad isn’t it.

I’ve not liked channel 7 in general for quite some time, in particular their news. This just makes me wonder even more so how they can be considered the most watched channel.

Anyway ABC is the goods. It has Chaser!

Chaser is great – in fact it probably has more real news than Ch7 has !

I wish it surprised me, but it doesn’t. They could have at least left the flowers….
