FileHippo , the software download site, has released a little bit of their own software.
Update Checker does just that, it scans your programs directory and lets you know if any have an update available. Then if you want, a browser window opens and you can download the ones you want.
Seems a good idea if you are always wanting the latest and greatest. Myself – I usually just stick to what is working – except for updates with Nero and Anydvd, I always get the latest of them.

This looks good. Good to have something like this for Windows.
Linux has had software like this for a long time, you can even install new software without having to go and download it from somewhere.
